Over the years, Michael has given back to the Barrie and area communities by donating his artistic and design talents to many organizations including Kempenfelt Rotary Club, of which Michael is a member , Gilda’s Club of Simcoe Muskoka, Hospice Simcoe, Barrie and Area Christmas Toy Tea, Simcoe County Children’s Aid Society, Barrie & District United Way, Women for Women Golf Tournament and MacLaren Art Gallery.

Michael is involved in the art community, participating in figure drawing at the MacLaren Art Gallery and Georgian College.

In a completely different creative expression, people are often surprised to hear that the window displays at Michael Smiley Fine Jewellery are all designed and assembled by Michael and his staff. As well, the sculptures and modern paintings adorning the showroom walls are all examples of Michael’s artistic ventures giving you more insight into his creative mind.
